January 28 BBQ@Bronte BeachSome people say they visit my blog and can only 'understand' the pics, so...I ll just add some Engish writing entries. Right after Bondi beach has been added to the National heritage List (with the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House )on the eve of Australia day, I went to Bronte Beach today, which is located about only 2.5km south of Bondi Beach, finding it's actually nicer than Bondi..... Many pavilions, BBQ areas, restaurants, cafe, and of course, nice beach ,less people than those in Bondi. After 'feeding' myself, I took a short walk along the beach, and someone made a good point: All those slim people are at the beach, and fat people stay in BBQ areas~~haha It was too sunny today, and I finally couldnt stand it, and of course, got sunburnt. So I went to Bondi junction and bought a bottle of sunscreen cream.....The sun here is very harsh,Aus has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, and it is a significant public health issue~~em....I need to take it seriously, didnt use suncream much. Later in the afternoon, I spent sometime in Borders, catching up with some magazine reading~pretty relaxing~ will talk about the EXCITING AUSTRALIAN OPEN (tennis tournament) men's final tmr, kinda sleepy now~ January 27 Australia DayFirst time to celebrate Australia Day. Well, I have to admit that I didnt even know which day is Australia day before this year...... Anyway, I had BBQ at shanshan's place with church friends, and I got to know that the Aus national anthem actually consists of 3 verses, people just never sing those 2 verses~
The third verse's lyrics is this: With Christ our head and cornerstone,we 'll build our nation's might. Whose way and truth and light alone can guide our path aright. Our lives a sacrifice of love reflect out master's care. A bit surprised~~Now i understand the reason why "the land abounds in nature's gift of beauty rich and rare", as how they rejoice. Most of the people are seemed to be enjoying a lot in this Country Today is such an exciting day, see random people on the street~~I got a national flag tattoo on my face as well, fun times~ A sign-writing plane has spelt out a giant "Sorry" - an apology to Aborigines - in the skies over Bondi Beach. Prime Minister Rudd has promised to say sorry to Aborigines for past injustices, reversing an 11-year policy under the previous conservative government. "We should be deeply proud of our country. Proud of aboriginal culture, which represents the oldest continuing culture in human history," Mr. Rudd said.
Later in the afternoon, i was invited by Madoka and Satoshi to their apartment, having picnic~~ The party was exactly very "Australianess", because we had people from different culture~very diverse. And they made delicious food~ was planning to go to Darling harbour and watch fireworks, but, as they live on 36th floor ,5 min away from darling harbour, the view from their balcony was fantastic. We decided maybe it's better to stay, and it seemed we made the right decision! Great fireworks, great weather, great day today~~~ January
January 16 yummy cake(1.2)January 08 I am fineJanuary 01 07 New year's eve@milk beachNew year's eve
Yay!Finally 2008!
